Configure a Linksys Router
Follow these steps to configure a Linksys Cable/DSL Router (model
number BEFSR41) for use with WebCam Live. These instructions may
also work with the BEFSR11 and BEFSRU31, but these models have not been
tested by GetWare.
- Point your browser to http://192.168.1.1
- Enter your password. The default username and password (if you
have not changed it) is "admin" and "admin".
- Click on the DHCP Clients Table button
- Make a note of your machines IP address. It will be 192.168.1.100
or something close to this.
- Close this window
- Click on the Advanced tab
- Click on the Forwarding tab
- Make an entry in the Service Port Range like shown
above. The 8080 number must match the port being used in
WebCam Live (8080 is the default).
- Select Both or TCP from the Protocol drop
down. The UDP Protocol is not used by WebCam Live.
- Make sure the IP address matches the machine where WebCam Live is
installed.
- Press the Apply button.
- Run WebCam Live and enable the built in web server.
- Now when you hit your external IP address at port 8080, the
Linksys router will connect that port with the specified machine
behind the firewall.
Note, if your Linksys setup screens look different, you may not have
the latest Linksys firmware. These screen shots are of version 1.39.
