WebCam Live Features

WebCam Live has many easy to use features.

Getting Images from a Video Capture device - Any Video for Windows compliant capture device can be used with WebCam Live.
Copy Images - Copy a still image from the current video source.
Web Server Built In - Use the automatic web server to serve up your WebCam images.
FTP Server Option - Use your own FTP site to serve up your WebCam images.
Send WebCam Link - You quickly send anyone your WebCam URL while running WebCam Live. This is very useful when you want to send your WebCam URL to yourself at another location for monitoring.

Preferences

General Tab

Use built in web server - Select this option to host your own web site. This option is for users with full time Internet connections. The web server runs only when WebCam Live is running.
Title - This is the title of web pages that will be generated.
Port - By default, WebCam Live will listen on port 8080, but you can change it to any free port you wish. Note: this will change the URL necessary to access your WebCam.
Advanced… - This option opens up an advanced dialog where you can specify the URL to your site. This is for users behind a firewall or NAT device.
Protect site - Check this box to password protect your site. Visitors will need to know the correct user name and password to view the WebCam.
Password… - Press this button to change the user name and password required to access this site.
Log server hits - Log every access to your site to a log file.
Minimize as a tray icon - Instead of minimizing into the taskbar, you can minimize WebCam Live as a try icon.

FTP Tab

Upload image to FTP server - This option uploads your images to another web site.
FTP server - The URL of the FTP site to upload the images to.
Example: ftp.service.com
Folder name - The name of a folder on the above FTP server. This option can be left blank if you do not want to upload images into a folder..
Example: subfolder
Username - The username for this server.
Example: myusername
Password - The password for this server.
Example: mypassword

Capture Tab

Device - Select the video device to be used.
Preview live video - Check this box to preview the live video image.
Play sound on capture - Play a sound when a JPEG image is taken.
Refresh in - Control how often a still image is taken.
JPEG Quality - The quality of the JPEG images taken.
File name - The filename of the JPEG image file.
Create unique image names - Creates unique image names when saving the files on your computer. If this feature is on, images uploaded to an FTP server will still be called image.jpg.
