Frequently Asked Questions
What's new in Version 6.1?
Check out our release notes for all Clock G2
version.
Why do I need Clock G2?
Anyone who needs to get the current time can benefit from Clock G2. Clock G2
features a time synchronization feature. It connects to Atomic time servers on the
Internet to correct your PC's local time. Along with the synchronization, Clock G2
is a great desktop clock. Clock G2 features 5 different clock styles:
Analog, Digital, Analog World, Digital World and Countdown.
What Operating Systems is Clock G2 compatible with?
Clock G2 runs on Windows
2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista.
What protocol does Clock G2 use to synchronize the time?
Clock G2 uses the Simple Network Time Protocol defined in RFC
2030.
Previous versions of Clock G2 (5.1.2 and earlier), used the Internet Time Protocol defined in RFC
868.
Does synchronization work on Windows Vista?
Currently Clock G2 does not support this feature on Windows Vista.
I am on a LAN and every time I try to synchronize, it
fails. What should I do?
Ask your network administrator if your firewall is blocking the Simple
Network Time Protocol (SNTP). If
so, this port (UDP 123) would have to be opened on your network firewall
to allow Clock G2 to synchronize your computer clock.
I connect to the Internet using a modem. When I am
connected, time synchronization succeeds, but when I am not connected to
the Internet it fails. Why is this?
Time synchronization requires a connection to the Internet. Make
sure you have the Auto-connect to Internet checked in the Time
Setup Tab.
Will Clock G2 run on top of a Microsoft PowerPoint
presentation?
Yes. Just select the Always on top mode, and make sure the
color scheme will be visible on top of your presentation. We also
recommend using transparent mode, so that the maximum amount of
your presentation will show through.
When Clock G2 synchronizes the time, it is off by one or more hours.
What is going on?
Clock G2 requires that your local Time Zone be set correctly. To check your time
zone setting, select the Setup... option of the Clock menu from within
Clock G2. Select the Time Setup tab. Press the Set Time Zone button.
This will run the Windows Date/Time control panel. From this dialog, you can
tell Windows what your local time zone is. |
