Five Programs No Student Should Be Without
Computers have made the whole dynamic of school so much different. It used to be that students would have to go to the library whenever they needed to do research. Then as computers were more accessible, it used to be that people would have a computer encyclopedia, such as Encarta, to help them with their research. Now both are completely outdated methods now. The internet is a huge resource for students, and there is Wikipedia, the most comprehensive Encyclopedia ever. So what are some programs today that no students should be without? Photo editor: The Gimp is a digital photo editor that is basic and is quite similar to Photoshop Elements. Better, yet, it’s free. With this program, students can enhance their photos whether they are using them for a Photography class or for presentations. Photoshop is an awesome investment for the dedicated photographer.
Word processor: Microsoft word is a great word processor, but is pricy. Many students will be able to do all they want with Open Office!
Antivirus software: If you’re doing a lot of work on a PC, then it’s extremely wise to get yourself an antivirus program. AVG anti-virus is a good free one.
Xmind: Xmind is a program that helps you map out your ideas as you’re brainstorming.
PDF Maker: If you’re going to be writing professional documents, you may want to put them in a professional looking PDF. This can look better than simply sending a word file to your professor.
